February is Black History Month, and at DC's LEDs, we're taking this opportunity to celebrate innovation, creativity, and the contributions of Black Americans who have shaped our world. As a Black-owned business, this month holds special significance for us, and we want to use our platform to promote recognition and support for everyone.
A Legacy of Innovation
From Garrett Morgan's traffic signal to Dr. Patricia Bath's laser cataract surgery, Black inventors have created technologies that changed the world. Innovation comes in all forms—whether it's groundbreaking medical devices, revolutionary music, or LED products that help people stay safe and visible. What matters is that we recognize and support innovators from all backgrounds.
Why February Has 28 Days (and Why That Matters)
Black History Month falls in February, the shortest month of the year with just 28 days. To honor this, we're offering 28% off all our LED products—our sound-activated guitar straps, LED dog harnesses, and safety vests—with code BHM2026.
But the deeper message is this: while we celebrate Black history for 28 days, recognition and support should happen year-round. True progress comes when we consistently create opportunities, amplify diverse voices, and build inclusive communities every single day.
How We Can All Take Action
Recognition without action is hollow. Here's how we can all contribute to a more equitable future:
Support Black-owned businesses in your community and online
Educate yourself about Black history beyond the well-known figures
Advocate for diversity and inclusion in your workplace and social circles
Mentor, invest in, or collaborate with diverse entrepreneurs and creatives
Have open, honest conversations about race, equity, and opportunity
At DC's LEDs, we're committed to building products that make people's lives better—whether you're a musician performing on stage, a pet owner walking at night, or a worker on a construction site. But we're also committed to building a world where everyone has the chance to innovate, create, and succeed.
This Black History Month, let's celebrate the past, recognize the present, and take action to create a brighter future for all. Thank you for being part of our community.
Happy Black History Month! ✨
